Pétanque is a unique French sport enjoyed worldwide by players of all ages and skill levels. The Amelia Island Pétanque Club is one of the largest in the United States and a member of the Federation of Pétanque USA (FPUSA). It's often said that the game is easy to learn, but difficult to master!
AIPC members are a friendly group who welcome new players. Many of us stumbled upon the game by accident and were soon drawn in by helpful members who quickly showed us the basics and the joy of the game.
Saturday mornings between 9:30 and noon are dedicated to social, informal play where the rules are relaxed and teams are drawn at random.
Most afternoons (around 1:30) and many mornings (around 9:30) also provide an opportunity to join a pick-up game with players of all skill levels, learning from each other and practicing. The club makes extra boules available for new members, guests and friends to learn the game.
AIPC hosts at least three tournaments a year, attracting attract players from across the country and internationally.
